Aminath Shauna is the first woman tech Minister in the Maldives. She is actively involved in the development and implementation of various policies related to sustainable development, environmental protection, and technological advancement in the country. As a part of the National Resilience and Recovery (NRR) Plan of the Government, H.E Aminath Shauna is spearheading the implementation of the Digital Development Action Plan. The Digital Development Action Plan is aimed at laying the foundations for accelerated adoption of digital technologies and promoting a safe and vibrant digital society across the island nation. It aims to bridge the digital divide and enable all citizens, businesses, and government institutions to fully participate in the digital economy. The plan prioritizes on the establishment of a national digital Identity, government technology stack, enhancing government productivity, enable work from home and hybrid workspaces, and enhancing the regulatory framework for digital development. Under the leadership of H.E Aminath Shauna, the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology is working closely with other government agencies, private sector entities, and international organizations to ensure the successful implementation of the Digital Development Action Plan. Through her leadership, Maldives is set to become a leading digital economy in the region, while also leveraging traditional and emerging technologies in the protection of its fragile ecosystems and natural resources and in climate change adaption and mitigation.
